Sursum Society

Introducing the
Sursum Society

for Philanthropy ...

Every day, when our students and employees cross Journey Plaza, they walk by our life-sized bronze sculpture. With her arms outstretched toward the sky, Sursum, which means “onward and upward,” inspires them to reach for their dreams, be open to new ideas and celebrate Stephens as a community.

And our students today can reach for those dreams and goals because of the generosity shown by our alumnae and friends.

That’s why we’re excited to announce the creation of the Sursum Society. This new, exclusive association is made up of some of our closest friends and supporters. The society recognizes that there are many ways to give to Stephens, and we value and celebrate all of those contributions.

I invite you to learn more about the Sursum Society as we inaugurate our first group of contributors and members.

About Sursum

In 2006, Stephens alumna Nancy Fyfe Cardozier, '45, created a life-sized bronze sculpture to embody the rich tradition of the College's Ten Ideals. Named Sursum — Latin for "upward" — the sculpture stands at the center of the College’s Journey Plaza.
