for Philanthropy ...
Every day, when our students, faculty, and staff cross Journey Plaza, they walk by a life-sized bronze sculpture. With her arms outstretched toward the sky, Sursum, which means “onward and upward,” inspires them to reach for their dreams, be open to new ideas and celebrate Stephens as a community.
Because of the generosity shown by our alumnae and friends our students today can reach for their dreams and goals.
Sursum Society is an exclusive association made up of our closest friends and supporters. The society recognizes that there are many ways to give to Stephens, and we value and celebrate all of those contributions.
We invite you to learn more about the Sursum Society as we inaugurate our first group of contributors and members.

In 2006, Stephens alumna Nancy Fyfe Cardozier, '45, created a life-sized bronze sculpture to embody the rich tradition of the College's Ten Ideals. Named Sursum — Latin for "upward" — the sculpture stands at the center of the College’s Journey Plaza.
